….COOK?
What?!?
WHAT?!?!?!?!?
Sure he’s good but he’s so generic. I am shocked. Absolutely shocked and yes, disappointed. I think Archuleta is infinitely more talented. I know Archuleta will be hugely successful in spite of his loss, but is anyone else in disbelief over this news?
Yes…I am totally shocked because of all the chatter about him for weeks on many blogs…I only wish I had watched it this season!
On another note…sorry I’ve been MIA in the comments area of late…I’m sure I’ll be explaining in an upcoming post…anyway…I am so sorry I missed the May 19th Discovering the Woman behind the Mom! I was so looking forward to contributing there…any thoughts of doing it again as a monthly or weekly post?
Oh please it’s all the little teeny bopper girls voting over and over and over again.
For once I was really behind both contestants on the AI Finale this year. However, with that said, I think Archuleta performed better last night, but I think both of their careers will be amazing.
Well, I have to say that I personally loved David Cook *way* more than Archuleta. Archuleta’s voice was very nice, but I felt like *he* was the more generic one, lol. And quite honestly, I could not stand to watch him perform. His gestures and facial expressions always seemed so contrived to me. I think he’ll be awesome as he matures.
All that being said, I still wanted Archuleta to win. I feel like the runner-ups in Idol tend to get the better end of the deal, career-wise, since they aren’t initially bound to AI contracts and get to make their own choices. And you know they’re still going to put out their own records and be successful! Plus, I think Archuleta fit the “Idol” bill better than Cook did, despite my preferences. (And I didn’t even vote this week!)
How cool was it that both contestants got Hybrid vehicles? That was awesome. Wish it would have been me!
I’m with Becky too – I couldn’t stand David Archuleta. I mean he seemed nice enough and he has a good voice, but all of his performances sounded exactly the same to me – very boring. And I agree with her that something about him seemed contrived or at least not completely genuine. Maybe that’s just his youth though. I think that David Cook is the better performer of the two – but I fully expected David Archuleta to win since he does seem to fit the Idol ‘mold’ better. I’m happy with the way it turned out though! π
I loved both of them but was leaning more toward Cook as of Tuesday morning. But Archuleta blew me away Tuesday night and for the first time ever I voted – 10x no less. Also downloaded a bunch of Archuleta’s songs from iTunes. So while I’m disappointed, I think being runner-up is going to give him so much more freedom to branch out.
The only thing that makes me sad about Archuletta losing is that now his Dad will have more control over his career… everything I’ve read about that man makes me want to smack him. :S I really like David Cook though… we’ll see how it goes from here.
Uh, 35 here and voted for Cook for 2 hours Tuesday night. π Don’t really consider myself a teeny bopper.
I grew up with punk and alternative rock and just good old rock n’ roll, so Cook is definitely my man.
Sorry to be the voice of dissent, but I thought Cook earned it more all throughout the entire season. And personally, I think Archuletta’s a little bit of a humdrum, so to speak. He’s got a fantastic voice, but a little boring for me. He’ll certainly go far, though, I have no doubt about that.
Personally, I couldn’t be more thrilled. And 56% to 44% is a telling percentage……I know it’s pretty close overall, but that is a double-digit difference, after all, and a 12-million-vote difference.
GO COOKIE!!! π Looking forward to another good AI album from an awesome performer and voice.
David Cook has talent, no doubt about it. But he can’t hold a candle to Archuleta in three areas:
1. Pitch. David Cook was consistently out of tune. His grunge/rock voice probably covered it for most ears, but this musician wanted to throw a table at him every week.
2. Orginality. David Cook sings like every band since 1992.
3. Progress. David Cook has sounded the same for 23 weeks. David A. has improved every week.
Yeah, David A. should have won. Oh, well.
I would’ve been happy with either David, actually. I think Archuleta has more raw vocal talent, but I think Cook has more versatility (despite the fact he’s obviously found a niche he likes). I’m kind of glad Cook one since Archuleta is so young and so humble, and I’d hate to see success ruin such a sweet seeming guy, you know? Not that it would…but it’s a worry I had. =)
I don’t think you were the only one that was shocked. I was okay with David Cook winning – knowing that they both will do well anyway.
Have a good Friday – see you – Kellan
You’re post summed my thoughts up exactly.
WHAT?????
I’ve been sad about it all day. I just loved Archeleta’s voice and I thought he totally outsang Cook on Tuesday. BUT, I’m hoping that he will do okay without AI. I’m still just a little shocked and bummed today. And now what will I do on my Tuesday’s and Wednesday evenings?
I agree w/ Deb. I really liked David Cook, I thought Archuletta sounds the same during every song. And he really struggled on the upbeat songs. I think he has a good voice, but that he needs to branch out a bit.
